About video
Scandal is a 1989 british drama film, a fictionalised account of the profumo affair that rocked the government of british prime minister harold macmillan. It stars joanne whalley as christine keeler and john hurt as stephen ward, personalities at the heart of the affair. The film was screened in competition at the 1989 cannes film festival. Based on the profumo scandal of 1963, an affair between an exotic dancer and the minister of war shakes up the british government. Upon its original uk release, the chief censor at the bbfc claimed to be able to see a couple in the background of an orgy scene who were actually having sex on top of a piano. Although the footage was not clear enough to confirm this, the scene had to be optically blurred to cover up. But the orgy scene, a nude tea party of the rich and fatuous, is not one of them. A tale that the media once treated as grand farce acquires tragic overtones on the screen. Even in a great movie year, scandal would stand out for tackling a notorious case of british political misconduct with becoming tact. The sex in scandal is quite explicit and theres plenty of nudity both male and female. In fact it was nearly slapped with an x rating for an orgy scene during which one of the background couples was actually having sex. If scandal (1989) was not a fairly accurate recounting of britains john profumo affair, the characters and events would be too weird to be considered plausible fiction. Defense minister profumos attempt to refute allegations of his involvement with christine keeler ultimately brought down the 10 year conservative party government back in. Scandal (1989) the story that seduced the world is now the most controversial film of the year. Nothing has been proved 1989 music video by dusty springfield (452) stills gallery (804). Then-director james ferman spotted a brief glimpse of hardcore sex in the orgy scene at 4905 (24 fps) and ordered an optical blur to obscure it.
